Lay-Down vs Seated Hyperbaric Chambers: Which Is Right for You?

Hyperbaric Buying Guide

How you'll sit, rest and get in and out of your chamber shapes every session you have in it. Here's how lay-down and seated chambers compare, and who each one suits best.

The Short Answer

Choose seated if you prefer an upright, open feel, or you like to read and work during sessions. Choose lay-down if you want to fully rest, meditate or nap.

Our Seated Chambers

Our flagship Volaira Ascend is a luxury soft chamber for sitting or reclining, adjustable from 1.3 to 1.5 ATA with an internal frame for a spacious, refined session. For higher pressure, the Volaira Legacy and OXYREVO Space60 are seated hard-shell chambers available up to 2.0 ATA. For 1.3 ATA seated sessions, Newtowne offers the Shoe, Long Shoe and walk-in Tent, and Summit To Sea offers the Dive Vertical (40 inches wide, 85 inches tall) and the roomier Grand Dive Vertical (60 inches wide).

Our Lay-Down Chambers

At 1.3 ATA, Summit To Sea offers the Shallow Dive, Dive and Grand Dive, and Newtowne offers 27-, 34- and 40-inch chambers. The Volaira Horizon, OXYREVO Apex 32 and Apex 36 are soft lay-down chambers that adjust up to 1.5 ATA. For a lay-down hard shell, the Volaira Haven and OxyAir OLV-YT01 go up to 2.0 ATA.

Getting in is easier than most people expect. Our soft lay-down chambers either have a side entry, or can be rotated so the zipper sits on top, letting you step in and lie down.

Measure Before You Choose

For a lay-down chamber, check you have the floor length plus room around the entry. For a seated chamber, check your ceiling height as well as floor space. We're happy to check the dimensions against your room before you order. See our Hyperbaric Chamber Size Guide.

Before You Buy

A prescription is required for chambers purchased for private consumer use; clinics and professional facilities do not need one. We can help connect you with a licensed telemedicine provider if you need one.
